Capatoki Video Series
Lesson 2 to have control with a soft contact
My second episode with Capatoki. In the last video, I demonstrated the need to test the brakes. In this demonstration, I show the need for the first of my three main requirements of control, going forward, and straightness.
To have control means you can control the pace with a soft contact. If you do not have that, then perform repetitive half-halts to get the desired speed. If you are still having issues, then do a few downward transitions. Keep repeating until you can control your horse's pace while holding a soft contact.
This trivial step is missed by many riders and usually creates a reliance on big leverage bits later on in the jumping ring.
In the next lesson, I demonstrate going forward.
This series will include many exercises used in Strides Exercises, for more information visit Strides Exercises
