Lesson 6 Straightening by using side aids
Here is lesson 6 on Capatoki. In this lesson I teach straightness by using side aids. This means using my inside hand and inside leg or my outside hand and outside leg.
I start at a walk, because I am also teaching her to learn what my legs mean. Inside leg creates more bend and pushes her out on the circle. My outside leg reduces bend and asks her to turn tighter on the circle.
I continue to repeat this exercise at a walk until she learns what I am asking. Again more more leg pressure is applied by tapping with the leg (not too strong) until she responds correctly. When she responds, I reduce my leg pressure significantly.
Repetition is the key.
This series will include many exercises used in Strides Exercises, for more information visit Strides Exercises
