Lesson 10 Canter circles at each end
Capatoki lesson 9 canter circles at each end. This is an old favorite exercise that I employ on hot horses, cold horses, green horses and experienced horses. I use the long sides to open the horse's stride and the circle to shorten the stride. On a hot horse, the circle is used to calm them. On a cold horse, I use the long sides to generate impulsion and then try to maintain it on the shorter side when I circle.
On a green horse, it is important not to make the circles too small. On an experienced horse, I can vary stride lengths more, but the quality of lengthening and shortening is more important than the difference in stride.
This series will include many exercises used in Strides Exercises, for more information visit Strides Exercises
