Lesson 7 Straightening with side aids at trot

Lesson 7 in Capatoki series. Here, I demonstrated side aids at a trot. Inside leg and inside hand or outside leg outside hand.

Inside leg - Inside hand will create bend, but if she starts going out through her shoulder, I use my outside leg and outside hand. When she straightens, her head will go round and ride straight.

At this time in her training, I avoid the long-accepted method of inside leg to outside hand. In the early days on a green horse, all I will be doing is creating confusion, by asking her to bend with my inside leg and not to bend with my outside hand. Teaching her what my aids mean is more important. In time, I will introduce the inside leg and outside hand, but this is done gradually.

This series will include many exercises used in Strides Exercises, for more information visit Strides Exercises
